What an absolutely profound statement! When you lie you have to lie again to cover up the original lie. The truth may be uncomfortable sometimes but the truth is 'honorable! People respect you more when you tell the truth. You can tell one lie and people will recognize you as a liar, no matter how many times you tell the truth thereafter!

I totally agree with Carver in his stance on telling the truth. I spend alot of time convincing my friends to tell the truth! The Bible states that the truth will set you free! Try it you might like it! Raymond Carver and I would have been good friends if he were alive today! I'm the new Raymond!
does this dress make my butt look huge in this???? sometimes it is nice to tell little lies here and there... As a woman, I know my fellow ladies ask many many many questions that we already know the answer too.
ReplyDeletehad to give you (a helpless man) a little reminder hahaha
Love this quote and your blogs. Keep'm comin!
You makes some good points regarding the need to tell the truth. However, Tiffany shares a time when the "whole truth" could be hurtful and counterproductive. Tact is important too.
ReplyDeleteIt always seems that we as humans leave out a variable out of many equations. You don't have to either tell the truth and hurt someones feelings, or lie to them. You can tell the truth tactfully.
ReplyDeleteTactfully indeed! I enjoy getting creative with situations like what Tiffany posted. How about, "That dress doesn't do your body justice"? The response becomes more of a deflection and has the same outcome. I'm not saying I'm a saint, haha, but I try to dodge lying if possible.
ReplyDeleteYou cant handle the truth! Lies were invented so that people could hide from their poorjudgement. Take the bullet, tell the truth. If this happens the world might be a better place(hopefully).
